编者按：2007年第9期本刊发表了一篇题为《〈第二课堂〉一篇文章碰中7道高考题》的文章，当时在广大读者中引起了强烈反响，并且在其后的若干年中，本刊每年都有一些句子或试题与当年的高考题高度吻合。今年高考结束后，又有某些热心的读者给本刊打来电话，说是本刊又有不少题与高考题高度相似，有的甚至是完全雷同。但是，高考作为国考，其命题是高度保密的，况且本刊碰中高考题的文章的发表时间均远远早于高考题出现的时间，有的甚至要比高考题早上好几年。所以，我们只能说：“对不起，高考题，我与你太相像了，但这并不是我的错。”

【用法归纳】
in case 可以说是高考英语中一个十分重要的短语，它不仅每年必然会出现在高考的单项填空中，而且还会经常出现在完形填空和阅读理解中，同时如果同学们在写作时若能巧妙地用上该短语，那也肯定会被视为一种“高级结构”。所以同学们有必要对它“弄懂弄通”。
用法一 表示条件
in case 表示条件，主要用于美国英语，意思是“如果”“假使”。如：
In case I’m late, start without me. 假若我来晚了，你们就别等我，先开始吧。
In case they’re late, we can always sit in the bar. 要是他们来晚了，我们总可以在酒吧坐一坐。
In case you should need any help, here’s my number. 万一你需要我的帮助的话，这是我的电话号码。
用法二 表示目的
in case 表示目的，其意为“以防”“以免”。如：
Write it down in case you forget. 把它记下来，以免忘记。
Bring a map in case you get lost. 带张地图吧，以防迷路。
He took his umbrella in case it should rain. 他带上了雨伞，以防下雨。
You’d better take the keys in case I’m out. 你最好带上钥匙，以防我不在家。

【相关用法】
1. in case 单独使用
in case 有时单独使用（即其后不接句子），意思是“以防万一”。如：
I’ll cook plenty of potatoes just in case. 我打算多煮些马铃薯，以防万一。
I don’t think I’ll need any money but I’ll bring some just in case. 我想我不会需要什么钱，但我会带一些，以防万一。
You probably won’t need to call―but take my number, just in case. 你很可能无需打电话，但还是记下我的电话号码，以防万一。
I guess we’ve already talked about this but I’ll ask you again just in case. 我想我们已经谈过这个问题了，不过为了以防万一，我再问你一次。
2. 用于复合介词in case of
复合介词in case of 与引导从句的in case相似，也有两个用法：
(1) 表示条件，意思“如果”“假若”“万一”。如：
In case of fire, break the glass. 万一发生火灾，就把玻璃打碎。
In case of emergency, press the alarm button. 遇到紧急情况，请按警报按钮。
In case of bad weather, the wedding will be held indoors. 万一下雨，婚礼将在室内举行。
In case of fire, leave the building by the nearest exit. 如遇火警，由最近的出口离开大楼。
(2) 表示目的，意思是“以防”“以免”。如：
We bought in lots of tinned food in case of heavy snow. 我们采购了许多罐装食物，以防下大雪时用。
Many shops along the route have been boarded up in case of trouble. 沿途很多商店的门窗都用木板封上了，以防不测。
They’re both asleep upstairs, but you don’t mind listening just in case of trouble, do you? 他们都在楼上睡着了，但你不介意留神听着点以防万一吧？
