用法归纳

1. could后接一般式表推测

A faulty connection could easily cause a fire. 接错线路容易引发火灾。

This new drug could be an important step in the fight against cancer. 这种新药有可能是抵抗癌症的一个重要步骤。

Though he had a temper and could be nasty, it never lasted. 虽然他有脾气,有时还很凶,但从来不会持续太久。

2. could后接完成式表推测

Be careful with that stick ― it could have gone in my eye! 注意那根棍子,差点戳到我的眼睛了。

I waited ages for you ― you could have said that you weren’t coming! 我等了你好久,你应该告诉我一声你不来了!

注意用于虚拟语气的用法。如:

I could have warned you if I had known where you were. 我要是知道你在哪里的话我就会提醒你了。

1. A。句子前面说你如果不当心的话,后面是可能的结果,即你可会到陷入更大的麻烦could 在此表推测,意为可能

2. C。根据常识可知,待产孕妇已住进医院,说明小宝宝随时都可能出生,故选Ccould 在此表推测,意为可能。注意此题不能选D,因为can表推测时通常只用于否定句和疑问句,不用于肯定句,而could表推测则可用于肯定句、否定句和疑问句。

3. D。根据You’ve just had dinner(你刚吃过饭)可知,你不可能就饿了,故选Dcouldn’t表示不可能。其余三项均与句意不符。

4. D。根据句中chose用的一般过去时可知,句子是在谈论过去的情况,所以空格处的谓语是对过去情况作推测,据此可排除AB;再根据句意可知,选D最符合句子语境,指本来可以逃走,但没有逃走,而是留下来战斗。
